DAY SEVEN:
(poetry)
Boy Child
by Ona Gritz
The stray ballpoint, a gun.
Umbrella, a sword.
Hands empty,
the air gets a roundhouse kick.
Is this typical "boy" I want to ask.
Or just typical of this boy?
Past bedtime he's enacting battles,
strategies elaborate as chess rules.
Finally, he crash-lands beside me,
seeks my shoulder, slurs "Mommy..."
I stroke his sweat-damp hair
until, shifting position, he sleeps,
arms thrown back in surrender.

ah.
this i
can
relate
to.
Charming post. And speaking for the male population, girls can be hard to figure out as well! I have two of the teenage-boy-crazy variety at home (though it sounds more like six).

There's a stage little boys go through, when life is filled with make-believe battles and unabashed mommy-kisses, that I just love. This poem says it so well.
And Boy-o is really, really too cute. But don't tell him I called him cute. Handsome.
Ah. I LOVE this whole post.
:)
Oh, I love these photos, but especially that last one.
And the poem is perfect to go with.
fabulous poem today.
and great photo set as well.
Great photos and poem! The poem could be decribing my son!
The young ladies must love your son!
(And I've enjoyed your photos, even though I haven't posted.)

That's one beautiful boy, and a pretty nice pair of new sneaks too.
In these photos and in everything you write, I feel the love you have for your family made palpable.
